Is it just me or are the prices of used buffet R13's in a decline? I've seen most older R13s close out at $670 in moderately ok condition, but they are still relatively priced under $1k.
is this a result of buffet's new price floor? or is it because they've been overproducing the professional line?

Yeah, I think they're declining.
With no real information other than from what I see with students around here, it seems to be the "new factor" more than anything else. New is better, we're told.
I've had two students in the last year who have passed up two marvelous "vintage" R13s and a Leblanc LL played by the late principal of one of the big symphonies to try their luck with new instruments costing four times as much or more, and playing half as well.
Or is it the gold leafed logo and the swab with the trade mark on it?
Well, it's all "human nature," isn't it. Play a new clarinet for five minutes, and it depreciates by 50% because it's "used." Heck, that's worse than turning the key on a new car and immediately losing 10% in "value."
Then there are the people who will pay $600 for a mouthpiece with Kaspar stamped on it without even playing it.
It's all goofy.

However, David, $650 or so for the horn and around $600 for a "Brannenization" is _still_ much much less than $3200 for a new instrument which will most likely also need some tweaking.
