I am going to try out for an orchestra and I can not find an orchestral excerpt book that has the Bartok concerto for Orchestra, Mvmt. II (Guioco della Cappie)- 2nd clarinet part or the Pines of Rome. I was wondering if anyone knows of a book that has both of these excerpts. Thank you.

Your best bet might be to call someone like Luck's music to see if they have actual parts available. None of the books i have contain the Pines of Rome; i'm not sure whether the Bartok is available. If it can be had at all, Luck's would have it. 800 348 8749. I have bought many an orchestral part from them before. Sometimes auditions contain portions of the piece that don't show up in the excerpt book, and you'll want the whole part anyway.

DEnnis: You might also try KALMUS at 1-800-434-6340 or take a look at their webpages: <kalmus-music.com> or <masters-music.com>. However, I looked at my Kalmus catalog and found nothing under Bartok or Pines of Rome either the "1st Clarinet" folios or the complete orchestra parts sections. Luck's may be your best bet at this time. I believe Ricordi protects "Pines" fairly zealously, likewise for Boosey (?) and the Bartok Concerto for Orchestra. For items like these, I suggest copying or practicing from the score. Good hunting. Sincerely, ET
