What is your opinion on these older student clarinet and how they compare with each other and your so-called "more proffesional" horn? They appear frequently on ebay, and I would like your view on them.
Vito - Leblanc (include 7212 13 ... V40...)
Bundy - Selmer
Regent - Boosey and Hawkes
Many thanks!
added:
Are the modern products like Buffet B12 and Yamaha 250 actually better?

See Lee Gibson's article on student clarinets in The Clarinet, about 15-20 years ago.

My professional horn is a Selmer Series 9. I own several " student " clarinets, a Yamaha 250, a B-12, and a Leblanc 7214.
I put the Yamaha 250 at the top of the list on the student horns. This is the one I play in our community band's outdoor concerts. It sounds great with a Vandoren B45 mouthpiece. It is the only one of my plastic clarinets that my husband has said has a good tone, he even thought I was playing the Selmer.
The valentino pads are great. The only negative is that the case is small, you can't put an extra mouthpiece, for example, in it.
I like the B-12 also, but it's not as substantial in feel to me as the Yamaha. Note: this is a newer ABS resin B-12. And it has plastic pins, or whatever, that I think something will happen to them eventually. I think the older B-12's are better in quality.
I think the Leblanc 7214 is great for beginners, the key action is nice and smooth. It has the best case of all, very sturdy, and with a little more room to put things. The tone quality doesn't sound as good to me as the Yamaha, or the B-12. This clarinet is would stand up well in a student band enviornment. It compares with a Bundy, in my opinion.
I picked up a lot of insights by reviewing past threads on this bboard on all of these clarinets, and appreciate the good advice.
