Ok Ok I get it. I appreciate all of the responses to my question about Jean Cartier. Even the rather pompous ones. Just enjoy the music and don't sweat the details. Thanks.

Don't give in that easily. Things take time. I googled against the groups (http://groups.google.ch/groups?q=%22jean%20cartier%22&ie=UTF-8) and there are some hits - you may want to contact the posters, you may supply pictures (the keywork might ring a bell in someone's memory), or you may just enjoy the fact that someone's trying to sell his/her JC for roughly one grand. (The fact that there are JC saxes is quite a hint that it is a stencil name)
Yeah, it's kind of archaeology, to unearth information from the internet. It's not an "at your fingertips" business. Detective work, lots of asking and emailing. I've been 18 months after a certain clarinet...
(I hope I'm not filed under "p" now - and if yes, sorry, it wasn't meant to come across that way)
