 need help *FAST*!!

So I have a performance in like, 2 days. I thought i had it nailed down, but just these past few days its been giving me trouble!!!!!!!!! In the 1st movement of the Finzi concerto, the 2nd passage, the Transition from the B-flat to the Altissimo F... it's been really wanting to squeak these past few days! What can I do?? Anything *I* can do with my embrocure, Set up, etc etc will help ...I know the most important thing i have to keep in mind is to "imagine" the pitch... that helps alot, but then it still wants to squeak out time to time...
Btw, im using the Standard F fingering with the sliver key to improve the tuning which also allows an easier transition to the follow E-flat...

Hi,
Try practising coming straight in on the F, this will develop the correct embouchure for this note. Then slur from the F down to the B flat. This will find the correct embouchure for both notes. Then reverse the order of the notes. Then put back in to piece...

the thing i try when that sort of things come is to take it down r e a l l y slow and do it some times. its easier to recognize the problem when the mind are keeping up. a simple thing, but still..
there's also the possibility that the pads are leaking. if you dont play anything wrong in the technique or mouth, sinse you say that it came the last couple of days and not been there all the time....

Maybe try 1 and 1 for the b flat and then slur to "long" f.

Which ever fingering you use, keep your tounge high and do't let the intensity of your air stream sag for even a second. Put an arrow pointing up on the B flat and think and start to focus your air stream on the b flat as if it was the f.

Most importantly, don't panic. Just relax and trust your ability. The more tense you get , the more likely the F will not come.

I think my problem is that my air is *too* high... So the F is overblown to a really flat altissimo b-flat or something..... I also thought about the Long F, but then i have to slur down to the eflat, either I have to
1)make a tiny "stop" before i go to the E-flat
2) use the brahms fingering- which i think is WAY to complicated for last minute adjustments...
3) stick with what ive been doing and hope for the best ;)

o well, I guess its just up to trusting myself :S

Perhaps some combination of the above ideas?

If you're overblowing the F, why noy first start on the F (as if it was a long tone) and become comfortable with its' "place" in the altissimo (I can feel the note vibrating on my tongue).

Then progress in a relaxed way up to the F in the passage, hold it, then to the Eb.

In-between the long tone and the slow passage make sure that you do not readjust your embouchure. You can stop and take a breath...just don't do anything else!

Good luck!

James

PS...eat a banana.
PSS...I do like Bufclar's idea, but not in your circumstance with the performance impending.

That's the point of the way I'm suggesting you explore the passage.

First start with what you already know and do well (F long tone)...then put it into context and discover what is changing that is causing the F to overblow.

Once again Good luck! I hope everything goes well!

Try not to bite down on your mpc-and thus close your reed off.
The best way to get there is in your airflow.
Use more airflow to get the altissimo "F".

I find this works well with my college students
