I just bought a Selmer Paris Bass , that is missing it's
bell. Any ideas about obtaining a replacement ?
Would the factory sell a new one, via my local retailer ?
Should I search the music stores around the country ?
Also , it is a Low C model ,and I was wondering if
there was a difference in response between the Low Eb &
low C models ?

Irv - if your bass is the one from Jenster auctioned off at $920 [I looked on EBAY completed items under Selmer Bass Clarinet], it is the low Eb model, not the low C. Mine is the same but a several years later model re: serial no. You should be able to order [from France, via a knowledgable repair shop] a suitable bell, and possibly a Sel C* mouthpiece, which is my current favorite. Mine is a very good one, it requires careful register key adjustment and is a bit long-reached for my small hands. Luck, Don

If it is a low C instrument, the bell would be slightly longer than the Eb.

A good repairman should be able to identify the exact model if he has the official Selmer parts catalogs. As instruments evolve over the production line, the only way to get the right replacement part, somtimes, is with the serial number. If its an older version of that model you may have to get what you can find and have a GOOD tech MAKE it right.
