Intonation question

I recently got a Leblanc Concerto II that has an intonation gap over the break. I am not sure if I am using the correct technical terms but what I mean is that intonation is good from low notes to Bb and when I change to B over the break the horn starts to work a little bit higher (around 20 cents). What can be done to improve this? Should I try a different mouthpiece? Any suggestions?

Hello rgoldem,

This is commonly referred to as "wide twlefths."

You need a barrel with an inverted cone, such as a Moenigg or Chadash barrel. The bore of the barrel is wider on the mouthpiece end than on the clarinet side. This can dramatically lower the pitch of the clarion register.

There are several others who offer such a design, Springer, Fobes, Grabner, Backun, etc....
