 Boston Symphony Concert Thursday
Author: Jhall

A friend of mine is taking an area high school band to perform in New England this week. I wonder if any of the clarinets are watching and might they have a word or two for these fine high school musicians? They will be attending the Thursday night concert.

Thanks,
John

Here's the program:

Boston Symphony Orchestra
March 29, 2007 8:00 PM
James Levine, conductor
Alfred Brendel, piano

MOZART, Symphony No. 25
MOZART, Piano Concerto No. 17 in G, K.453
SCHULLER, Seven Studies on Themes of Paul Klee
RAVEL, Daphnis et ChloƩ, Suite No. 2

This is a great program, which a group of high school musicians should thoroughly enjoy. Brendel is one of the great pianists, and the Ravel is splashy and spectacular. I've heard the Schuller but don't remember much about it.

Hope you enoyed it. The Schuller is a great example of orchestral coloring. I'm composition student at New England Conservatory right down the street from Symphony Hall, and I often try to make the BSO concerts, although I wasn't in attendance this time.
