I have only one mouthpiece in my life which is Vandoren B45 Profile 88 with D. Bonade inverted ligature (may be by Leblanc) and use it with Vandoren traditional reed #3 1/2. I used this set with all clarinet I played: many Yamahas, Buffet R-13 and Selmer Recital. what do you think of this set?? I think I may buy a new set soon. Can you recommend me some? Thanks.

biggest question to ask yourself is do you need a new set up? If it ain't broke don't fix it. If your looking to try new things, the least expensive route is reeds, then the lig, then the mouthpiece. I just started trying the rico grand select evolution reeds for more classical things. They respond well I think and have a nice dark center. I normally play with concert bands in the ny area where there are a lot of retired big band players, so I had to adjust to where I can be brighter than I normally like to blend with the section so I have been playing for the last 8 or so years with the more open of the two eddie daniels leblanc mouthpieces and vandoren v12 reeds in a 3 1/2 with the vandoren thin metal inverted lig. I usually have used a vandoren 5rv lyre with a v12 3 1/2 or 4 with the optimum lig for a lot of darker clarinet parts, but just got a pete fountain crystal that i'm playing with a rico royal 2 1/2 with the inverted vandoren thin lig that is growing on me for more expressive jazz clarinet stuff. I also change clarinets for some reasons where I play my series 10 both at work and when I want to have a darker sound and the series 9 I have comes out when I have to play more bright things. I just always found my series 9 to be a brighter clarinet so I was always hesatent to play out in more concert band settings or orchestra pits for darker sounding musicals till I found this 10 I love. Best thing to do if you want to try changeing your set up is find a store that lets you try a few mouthpieces or order a few from places like wiener music and pay the couple of bucks for the restocking after you can demo them in your home. Good luck
