I have a Buffet Clarinet, serial #61207, which I played through high school. I believe it to be an R13 model from 1959. Can anyone tell me any additional information on the instrument. It is now 20 years later and I had it overhauled and would like to be able to pass this onto my kids.

Your clarinet is a fairly early R-13. Buffet significantly changed the design in the 1970s, increasing the outside diameter of the body and moving the register vent up.
The original design had a uniquely flexible and "personal" tone. The downside was intonation problems, particularly at the bottom of the instrument, where the interval between registers was much too wide. The later design improved the intonation at the expense of the tone.
Buffet has revived the original design in the Vintage model.
By all means keep and play the instrument, and don't let anyone touch the bore. A reverse-taper barrel can improve the intonation.
