 Finger touch wear
Author: alanporter

Is there any simple way that an amateur can cover up finger touch wear on bass clarinet keys ? The surface is nickel plating and I currently have the spots covered with self-adhesive aluminum tape. It works but doesn't look all that great. Do any of the repair techs on the forum have a secret that they are prepared to reveal ?
Hopeful Alan.

Hehe, funny you should mention that. I left the rehearsals often with black finger tips (from worn bass keys), until I coated them with clear (hard) nail varnish.
I don't expect this to last forever, but this is my third or so week with them coated, and the fingers are still clean.
