Has anybody come across a transcription of the clarinet part of the Carl Nielsen Quintet opus 43 for Bb clarinet? It is written for A clarinet, but I have only a Bb clarinet and I sooooo want to play this piece. Thanx!

Transcribing the A part to Bb would most likely put it in an insanely difficult key rendering it unplayable. If you really want to just play the part, I would recommend playing on your Bb and learn (and enjoy) the part by yourself. Then, when you finally get your A clarinet, you'll be ready for the ensemble.
Many of us learned the Mozart Concerto in A on our Bbs first and were "good to go" when we finally could afford our first A clarinets. Same is true of the Mozart Clarinet Quintet which calls for A clarinet but is (fortunately) published with a piano transcription for Bb clarinet.
BTW, unbelieveably as it may seem, I actually saw a wind ensemble arrangement of the Mozart Concerto written in the original key of A with a Bb clarinet part transcibed in the key of B. Have any of you seen or actually played this on your Bbs?? I think, not too many--if any!!!! (although it would be a good technique learning "finger busting" experiance)
