Is anyone familiar with this book? "The Bass Clarinet Manual", New Techniques for the Bass Clarinet, Intermediate Edition. It seems this is aimed at contemporary techniques. Would you say it is only for advanced players? It looks like an interesting book
How would you compare it to Volta's bass clarinet method?

I've seen a number of posts recently refering to the "base clarinet." I'm not familiar with this. Is there something inherently wrong with the moral character of these clarinets?

yes , they behave in strange ways ....
The volta book is about producing sound and controlling your airstream ( lots of excerpts for the classical player ) . The bok book is more like a cd with book , showing all the possible contemporary techniques for bassclarinet ( eehm, sorry base clarinet )
Both books require a good amount of technical skills and experience to grasp the small details ( and in the case of the volta book knowing french AND english don't hurt for a fex pages )
Worth the money ?? Always answered by the buyer :-)
