This weekend I attended a concert of L'Octuor de France, which included Schubert's beautiful octet for strings, clarinet, basson and horn. It was a brilliant performance, in the Orangerie of a lovely garden, with the rain pelting down on the roof for additional effect. I also picked up their CD of Bach's Goldberg Variations, arranged for the same instrumentation by Marcel Bitsch. A very successful adaptation, and nice to hear these beautiful melodies on the clarinet. Highly reccommended!
