I have two clarinets that are need of repair/repadding/recorking. These are student models. My son and I are learning to play together. Does anyone know of a shop with resonable rates and good customer service in the Charlotte NC area? Also, what is a reasonable rate for repadding and recorking?

Thanks for your time in answering my questions.

Phil Muncy (Muncy Winds) in Boone is a phenomenal repairman.

Closer to home, in Raleigh - Marsh woodwinds.

Hopefully the road has been repaired in front of the shop by now.

If you can get out to Boone, I second Paul's recommendation. The people at Muncy Winds are great -- Rod Berry is the tech who looked at my clarinets last, and he was excellent. Muncy is the recommendation of Dr. Burke at UNC Greensboro, so I made the trip from there.

As for a price, I'm not sure at the moment...sorry!

Linda is the repair tech at McFadyen at the corner of Highway 29 and WT Harris Blvd near the university. She has adjusted my Buffet B12 a couple of times and she is always very helpful. The adjustments fixed the problems that I was having.

Donald Hinson, Whiteville, NC (on the coast, near the South Carolina border). Repads and recorks for excellent rates, will guarantee his work for a year (if you don't like it, send it back and he will fix it).
