There's not that many threads on the board that talk about these barrels. For those of you who have them or heard them, did they help in focusing your sound, tone, adding warmth?

I have one for an R13 A-clar (I often obtain such items to check them out dimensionally).
They are very nicely made with good wood and sleek rings (silver metallic)
by Dilutis, who also makes a nice reed case.
My specimen has a goodly taper, is somewhat (but not overly) resistant, and produces good intonation correction for the R13.

IMHO it is fairly priced.

For the one that I have, I would say that the resistance is more than for a typical reverse taper(stock Moennig, Chadash, the ones I make, some others).
It rewards good air support, for which there is no good substitute.
Search this site for David Weber and about his teaching strategy. Apply these principles, or listen to recordings of his students, and you will understand the barrel.

I have a 67mm David Weber barrel for my Vintage R-13. My tone is more focused and has better overtones than the stock barrel that came with my clarinet. I use a Vandoren 5RV Lyre mouthpiece and Vandoren 4 or 5 reeds. This set-up works well for me. I would try and contact Robert DiLutis to see if you can try out a few of the barrels to see if they make a difference for you. I was fortunate in that he was visiting Seattle a while back, so I got to try a few before I found one that made a difference for me. The one I chose didn't seem to add more resistance, but then I take lessons from a former Weber student. I hope this helps!
