I just bought a clarinet and I think it might be a big black white elephant; it's got 'Selmer', then 'HS**' then 'made in France'written on the mouthpiece; and its got '149228' written on the back of the bottom of the forsat joint but; it seems to be plastic. It's got a lovely old case made out of wood. What might this clarinet be, is it worth rejuvenating? It's also

Got pictures? Did you think it was a Selmer based on the mouthpeice?

Let's put that another way:

Can you take some pictures and post them on this board? Apart from trademarks and logos, some instruments can be identified tentatively by key shape and tenon rings.

The Selmer HS* mouthpiece is one of the better mass-produced mouthpieces, so you might want to hang onto that, even if the clarinet turns out to be an instrument you prefer not to keep.
