Hi from Turkey,
First of all I want to say that I have not a clarinet. I am willing to buy one soon. Looking for online auction sites etc. cause here in Turkey it costs 250-300 USD for chinamade junks. I thought that I will buy one of these brands like SKY, Lark etc ... it is so hard here to earn for a brand between 500-600 or more. I have never played clarinet but I am willing to do so soon. I have just bought a DVD for beginners from Ebay. I has not yet arrived but I am willing to start with this DVD to my journey.
By the way, I want to learn about the cheap and the quality brand. I am looking for the best of worst. As I said my budget is not available for a quality one. So which one of these lesser quality brands have the quality for a low-budget beginner. If anyone here may help, I will be very glad.

I would reccomend trying to buy a used instrument if you are on a limited budget, finding a half decent used horn is better than buying a 'garbage' new instrument. That said, there are good offerings from major companies that are at a reasonable price and quality. i'd say stick to the big names if you are getting a student instrument for sure.

The big names are Buffet, Selmer, Yamaha, and Leblanc. Also, the Forte clarinet is worth looking into, a very well made clarinet that is not a "big name". I would stay away from the Sky and Lark brands, if you do a BBoard search, there is a long list going around of the "garbage" clarinets. If you look on Ebay, there is a lot of clarinets made under the big names, such as the Bundy, that may be worth looking into for a decent, playable horn. All the big names make student models, and a used one in good condition will most often be within your price range. Good Luck!
