John Walker and I have finally started recording the Rose 32 with the accompaniments that he wrote.
I'm surprised at how tiring it is to do this. I spend about 40 hours a week with a clarinet in my mouth, and yet, I find that my embouchure is extremely tired after only a couple hours of mic checks and recording. One of my teachers was correct when he told me that etudes require different embouchure strength than playing in an orchestra.
20 down, and 12 to go!

I have an old tape of Harold Wright doing some of the Rose studies and the tempo is awe inspiring. However, a shareware version of Goldwave v4.26 can slow things down to a more tolerable pace.
A great teacher gives you answers to questions
you don't even know you should ask.

I'm playing the old Carl Fischer version with corrections that Mr. Gigliotti gave me when I studied with him in college. It's on Bb, and while some of the tempi are on the bright side, the recording that John Walker did with just piano is pretty playable. (I'm not saying this to push his other recording; I am not involved with that at all, and have no financial interest in it.)
