 Is it worth it?

I have a chance to get an R-13 in the key of A for $1,000. It was made in 1991 and has nickel keys. My question is a nine year-old, used instrument worth this much?
thanks a lot,
Cathy

If it's in good shape and in good tune - yes. A Bb of that vintage runs $800-$1000, the A always $100-$200 more. make sure you check it out thoroughly (or have a professional check it out) for hidden problems before buyong it.

I bought a Selmer "A" made in 1936! It's beautiful! Don't go by age, judge by tone quality and overall condition of the instrument. BTW I pad $700 for it and think it is worth every penny.
