Hello all, I am in need of assistance. I am a clarinet player in college and know nothing about reeds, as far as working with them goes-sanding, shaping, that kind of thing. IF any one has any reccommended web-sites or resources, or any tid-bits, I'd really appreciate it!

"The less you know - the better you probably are"
A good start would be to first ask your college clarinet instructor for some "hands on" techniques. Working side by side with someone is invaluable.
There are a number of basic web sites which hold information on reed adjustments. Here is one to look at:
http://home.comcast.net/~czrzbz/clarinet/reeds.html
A good overview on the subject (with diagrams) is found here:
http://www.tcnj.edu/~mckinney/the%20reed.htm
Here is a helpful diagram which will give you some additional information:
http://www.jewelmusic.com/interesting%20articles/reedadjusting.htm
Next - there are many texts which deal with single reeds and their selection, break-in, adjustment, etc...
Look for the past writings of Bonade, Opperman and the recent book by Larry Guy.
If you want to watch a DVD, the Ridenour ATG system has an instructional video.
I have also seen the new DVD by David Bourque "Working on the Single Reed" and it would probably be perfect for you at this point...GBK
