Last night on public radio, I heard Richard Stoltzman performing a piece entitled "The Four Seasons" by Lawrence Ashmore. Granted, it's a bit schmaltzy, even with Stoltzman's vibrato. Never the less, I found it to be a nice piece, something that might play well on the nursing home/church circuit I make from time to time. Always on the lookout for music of this genre, I ran an internet search this morning to see if there are any piano reductions available, but alas came up empty handed. Can anyone help? Thanks.

If it is bad form to answer one's own post, then my sincere apologies. I did an archive search after I made my post this morning, something I should have done in the first place. Anyway, I discovered that this topic has popped up from time to time over past year or so. I e-mailed one of the "poster" who kindly responded informing me that she had located the piece, but it was only available as a rental deal and an extremely expensive one at that.
I guess I am left wondering why in this day and age it is to any composer's advantage to limit the availability of his or her music in this way? In this case, maybe he doesn't feel the accompaniment is "reducable" to a piano score.
Maybe if I win the lottery, (Which means I have to buy a ticket sometime) I'll spend the money on worthy "clarinet causes" like commissioning arrangements of this sort so more of us can enjoy playing great, beautiful music.
Thanks for tolerating my Saturday afternoon musings.

<br>You do a "sensitivity" analysis to establish price, actually. What will people pay vs. how often will they play. Sometimes it's better financially to keep the proce high - 1 person paying $200 for a rental is worth more than 19 people paying $10.00 ea.
