I ordered a box of these Rico GC Evolution Reeds from WWBW in mid October and finally got them two day ago. I find That I like them alot and would like to get more, but don't want to wait 3.5 months like the last time. Does anyone know of a place to get them that has them in stock? I checked at Karacha.com and they have the standard GCs and list the Evlutions as being an options but don't provide a means of ordering them. Anyway they seem to work very well on my Series 13, 88, M30 mouthpiece. Very responsive and free blowing.

They can't seem to keep them in stock they are so popular, so if a company runs out of them, it may be a while before getting them back in stock.
btw - I'm an artist rep. for the reed, so am biased (and play it!)

I've found that Rico Grand Concert reeds don't work very well on bass clarinet --- they sound OK for a couple of days but die quickly. When the dust settles, I find that the reeds I generally play concerts on are Vandoren or Marca.

GC Evolution are wonderful, wonderful reeds. (I represent no-one but myself - this is just my personal, unbiased opinion.) I've been slowly converting to them over the past three months or so. I get mine from Reeds Direct in the UK.
(and I agree, David, Marca's a good bass reed)

Weiner's has good prices. Best prices for Vandoren reeds last time I did the research. And they're fast:

Speaking of Vandorens, I noticed that Weiner's is selling V12s in "bulk" at $15.75 a box ($15.50 if you order > 8 boxes). From what I can tell, these are boxes of ten reeds without the individual plastic restraints. If that's so, it's both economical and more environmentally responsible. Is that so?

Basset Horn - I believe not. Rico make three sorts of Grand Concert Select reeds:
1. The ordinary ones, which are thin, filed reeds like Vandoren blue
2. Thick blank, filed, like V.12
3. Thick blank, unfiled, like Rue Lepic: these are the "Evolution" reeds.
So far as I know, 2 and 3 are for Bb only.

Back when this thread first started, I ordered a box of Evolution reeds from 1 stop clarinet (excellent service). As a test I began playing on one without the usual break-in and sanding that I've been doing with GC Select reeds; I did end up doing a minimal amount of dressing with reed rush. After a month of playing 6 hrs or so a week the reed is still going strong. Although one reed does not constitute a rigorous test, I am quite pleased. This reed seems to be a very intelligent design.

After solving my supply problem by going to 1stop, I have been using these reeds exclusively. Out of the 5 I have tried, four play very well and one not quit as good. They seem to last and last and last....
