Hello,
am I going to meet some other basset hornists (active on this BBoard) at the 7th Basset Horn and Clarinet Meeting in Arnsberg, Germany?
http://test.woodwind.org/Calendar/index.html/2006/5/
(there is a little mistake in that link: not from Thu, May 25th until Tue, May 23rd but until Sun, May 28th)
Looking forward to meet some of you,
Arnold (the basset hornist)

This looks tempting. Where is Arnsberg (relative to nearest airport in Germany)?

Hello,
I checked http://www.mapquest.de/mq/directions/dirCountry.do with "Start an einem Flughafen" to Arnsberg in NRW (not the one in Bavaria):
from Flughafen Dortmund 44.3 km (29 min)
from Flughafen Paderborn/Lippstadt 78.7 km (46 min)
from Flughafen Kassel-Calden 140.9 km (1 hr 24 min)
The times listed by mapquest usually are too short, multply them by 1.5 - during rush hours even more.
Graham, I tried to forward the route from Airport Dortmund to you by email.

Well, I did not post here for a long time, but there were very few questions (e.g. shoestring ligature) that could not be anwered by others.

Nice opportunity to have many basset horns all together. I'm a new b.h. player, but I'll try to be there. Easyer for me from Turin.
Anybody knows how many b.h. players are there all around the world? I mean specialist players, not occasional ones.

Hello, Al Amir,
I think for this question you may ask Thomas Graß vor an estimate. At least among the amatuers allmost everyone who owns a basset horn will be a 'true' basset horn player.
Hello donald,
all clarinetist interested in the basset horn may join. It is indended to play some clarinet choir pieces, too, so we need Eb, C, Bb, Bass, contra alto and contra bass, too. (Sorry, no alto, no A clarinet, no Ab piccolo). And some trios and many quartets require one or two Bb clarinets.
The latest news I got from Thomas Graß,
the Lodz Trio (Bratislava, poland, historic instruments) is comming, Luigi Magistrelli is comming,
and other names I heard (not sure if it's allready fixed the will come) are Trio di Bassetto and Gilles Thomé.
larryB, I think for more news you should contact Thomas Graß.
Looking forward to meet you all,
Arnold (the basset hornist)

Velly interesting and TKS, Arnold, I'm like donald [in several ways], but am too oldt to travel that far, have fond memories of Southern Germany, to Munich, Innsbruck etc. Will just have to play my "B H", a Sel-Paris alto, and listen to Harmoniemusik !! Please tell us of new B H things, enjoy ! Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

Looks like a German version of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, fascinating!
Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.
