 Selmer Clarinets

Could somebody (I'm a beginning clarinetist) tell me something about "Selmer". Do they have a model "centertone"?
There is one advertised here for $600. I do not really plan to upgrade from my low end Kohlert for at least a year. But__??.
Thanks,
Chuck

Selmer's Centered Tone was the pro model back in the 50s and early 60s. They are a large bore instrument and are prized for playing jazz these days.

If it's in good shape without cracks (repaired or not) then $600 is not an unreasonable amount of money. If the keys are heavily worn or there are cracks, I'd try and bargain them down.

Mark P. Thanks for the input. I have purchased the Selmer clarinet. The person I purchased from bought it new about 1962. No cracks, no damage, and am going to do all the pads so I have a good basis to start from.
