I know that mouth pieces and barrels etc... are very unique and specific to each horn. I just wanted to know what other people like and use. And I plan to try a lot before buying. I have a very limited cash flow! But at my school, it is a Buffet or Vandoran monopoly! It is the only thing anyone gets. I know there must be more brands. I just wanted some feed back on what people use and like and what to avoid, so I am not stumbling in the dark!
I already have a wonderful teacher, but she has been out of town for the past two weeks and will be for the next two. I just wanted some outside feed back...thats all! :o)

Amber:
When your teacher returns, ask her about all of the things you've mentioned on this board.

Mouthpiece:
There are many brands and each brand has a number of different facings.
For example,Vandoren alone has: B40,B44,B45,2RV,B46,5RVlyre,M13,M14, 5RV13,B4513,and a few others. That's just Vandoren!

Just to mention a few other brands (without listing their various sizes):

Borbeck,Combs,Blayman,Hite,Gigliotti,Marcellus,Portnoy,Pyne<Ridenour,Selmer.Woodwind and many more.

So you can see that you need your teacher to help you.
You might phone, toll free,The Woodwind and Brasswind and ask them to mail you a FREE Woodwind catalog. You'll find lots of stuff there.
The number is 1-800-348-5003. Good Luck, Al

I try to keep the shilling to a minimum here.

Go to Resources - Retail on the lower menu and you'll find a couple of hundred places listed, many with toll-free numbers for the USA or overseas, that cover just abount anything you'd want for your clarinet.
