Jimmy Yan has been often mentioned here on this Bboard in good terms, and I now add my own personal experience to that list of mentions.
I took my recently acquired Selmer Signature A clarinet to Jimmy Yan's 54th Street shop in midtown NYC late Tuesday afternoon for typical regulation and adjustment work. It was the first time the relatively new horn was sent for adjustment. It was ready for me to be picked up yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.
The work done includes:
Lifting of several pads on both joints, replacing a missing cork on the side throat G# key on the upper joint, regulation of springs & general keywork, replacing all pads on the lower joint with Valentino (the orignal pads were too thick, which combined with with their initial low position contributed to extra flatness in tone and resistance), and oiling of the bore.
I paid $120 for the service. The clarinet plays like a charm, significantly better than before. I'm a satisfied costumer.

Jimmy is an amazingly talented technician and wonderful guy. He does much of the maintenance for many top New York City players from his little shop in midtown NYC. He had done work for me and the results are top notch.

Kevin,
Jimmy's great. Although I was disappointed to see a note on his door on Friday saying "Out until 3:00pm". I had to go to Perry Ritter (55th Street) instead, who did a fine job making some adjustments and replacing the tenon cork on my Signature's lower joint.
Nice to still have choices.
Wondering - did Jimmy recommend oiling the bore, or did you ask for it? When I've asked him about oiling the bore on my clarinet, he's said it wasn't needed (yet).
Also, just want to point out that you paid State sales tax because it's the law.
