I am doing a research paper on Alban Berg and his 4 pieces for clarinet and piano. As part of my analysis of these works I've decided to concentrate on the performance aspect of these pieces rather than the theory part(some of it is still over my head!). I'm curious to hear what other people who have performed these pieces think of them. What do you think makes them so hard to play and put together? Is there an alternate way to flutter tongue for those who can't? Does anyone know what the form of the pieces are?
Any replies would be great, thanks in advance.
