 Leister Performances

Does anyone know if Karl Leister is still actively performing? If anyone knows where I can find out places and times it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If anyone ever met him or heard him play, I would like to read about it.

I heard him back in 1987 with the ensemble Wien-Berlin. They played the Nielsen Quintet, the Villa-Lobos Quintet, and some other pieces. They were incredible. He was absolutely flawless on every note. I met him afterwards and he was very personable. Nice guy - incredible player. He's pretty old now, though. Over 60, so his playing might not be as good any more.

Over sixty is pretty old????? I beg to differ. Nowadays, sixty and seventy's something are in very good shape and can do pretty much anything they want.

Leister retired from BPO recently, so now has all the time on his hand to explore his music and push his personal envelop. His best years are yet to come. In particular, he is now free to grow his sound in a personal statement instead of being constrained by the BPO style which tends to dull individuality in its players.

Keil,
You might want to run over to www.google.com or one of the other search engines and give them a whirl. After all, that's how many of us find the answers to your questions ...
