 Koji Shiraishi
Author: Carol Dutcher

After a very sad week (New Orleans) it was spiritually uplifting to attend the annual Wine County Vintage Jazz Festival this past weekend. The highlight of the festival for me was hearing Miyoko and her Tokyo Traditional Jazz Band with the incredible clarinet playing, and one song on tenor sax, by Koji. I personally have never before heard such a sweet mellow tone. I would like to know if anyone out there has more information about Koji. Thanks, all.

No information about Koji, I'm afraid, but on a related note one of the most incredible concerts I've ever seen was by two Japanese musicians at a jazzfest several years ago. I looked for their recordings for ages, now have forgotten their names. Taiko drumming and soprano sax, creating the most intense sound & rhythm you can possibly imagine. Uplifting indeed!
