I was wondering about the Galper Register key, I know what it does but I was wondering if any of you fellow clarinet players play on one.Is it worth the money? Does it actually work with elliminating the stuffines in the throat tones? If any clarinet players play on the Galper Register Key I would like your feedback thanks alot.

We've just had a thread about the Galper tube/key a few months ago.

Av Galper's patent US 5,241,890 shows several "embodiments" of his inventive register vent and Figures 3-5 and his research results are well described in Columns 2 and 3 of his issued pat. The original version of it is viewable on www.uspto.gov, databases, go to "Images" for figures and column format, which I prefer for analysis. To me, the essence of it is a shorter length tube, an enlarged "central" volume, lesser projection into the cl's bore and a raised "boss" on the outside, prob. requiring a "goose-necked" register key pad-cup for flat pad seating. Not having one, I'm not sure what the present "commercial" version's structure may be, and will appreciate info as to its description and corrections to my above comments. I've noted that some older Selmer and Leblanc cls have shorter tubes, less interior projection, and raised exterior "bosses", which seem to have improved their "pinch", mid-staff, Bb's clarity and pitch. Wordy?, Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

Unless you are trying to make a knockoff, the only thing that matters is does it work or not.
