 dry lips

Hello everybody. I was playing a gig last weekend. Clarinet and guitar and we were playing a bunch of reels. This was all outside, and it seemed as I'd get playing for a while that the wind would come up and very quickly dry my upper lip out. Then I couldn't get it back down and was loosing a lot of air between my upper teeth. I don't think lip balm is a good idea as it seems gunkey and gets all over the mouthpiece. Any other ideas?

Guess it's just one of those outdoor problems. At times I have used cocoa butter stick....comes in a tube like lip balm. ...doesn't seem as greasy as cork grease.

I don't like to do this when I'm playing, but I sometimes will use Bee Balm about a half hour before playing, and then if there is any residue, I gently remove it before playing. Seems to help.
