I PLAY A VANDOREN B45 ON MY BASS CLARINET AND RECENTLY I TRIED BARI PLASTIC REED (MEDIUM) AND I FELT QUITE COMFORTABLE. THE SOUND WASN'T AS WARM AND DARK AS WITH "NORMAL" REEDS (VANDOREN 21/2), BUT I COULD PLAY HIGHER NOTES VERY EASY.
 ANYONE WITH SIMILAR EXPIRENCE?

Yes...but it wasn't on a bari reed...it was on a cheap plasic reed I found in the Woodwind. What is it with those plastic reeds? You've got to love them!

Are you using plastic or Plasticover reeds? I have been using Plasticover on my bass for years, but have never tried full plastic reeds. I am tempted to try them, if it makes the high notes easier. Which brand is best?
 Thanks, SusieQ

My rico plastic covers were okay, but I found I had to play on a lower reed size for some reason. Whatever. If you ever get in to jazz bass clarinet, they would be a dream come true!

As for Bari, one of my bass clarinet friends swears on his. I guess it's all a matter of opinion. Maybe I'll get one and play on it for a while, see what I think.
