When Eric Hoeprich came to Vancouver last year to perform Brahm's quintet, he played on one.
Spoke with him briefly after the concert. He is a very charming man. Chatted about the city and the concert. It did not occur to me to ask him who built it for him, he might also own a Bb as well. A beautiful instrument both in looks and sounds. It blended really well with the strings, but he could probably do it with any horn.
He talked about some tuning difficulties and the halls acoustics. He actually switched to Bb in the middle of the second movement, he said allegedly Muhlfeld did this, but he said it did not make it easier to play....
