Recital

Hi Everyone,

I am doing a 50 minute recital in september and am thinking about programming. I would like a piece that is less involved for the clarinet to put in the middle purely to give me a little breather!

I am going to perform the Brahms F Minor & Berg Op. 5 so thats around 33 minutes so far.

Shepherd on the Rock may be a nice filler. Any more suggestions?

If you can find a singer, in addition to Shepherd on the Rock you might do Totus in Corde Langueo, a short offertory also by Schubert. You'll need a string quartet or a pianist who can read short score, and it's for C clarinet, but it's easy and too lovely to miss.

The Milhaud Duo Concertante is nice and not too difficult or harmonically advanced.

The Debussy Petite Piece is quite short, and really encore material, but you might do a set of short pieces.

There are short pieces by Cahuzac that are nice.

Or if you want something undemanding but full of fun, try Erwin Fantasy by Meister.

If you've got 17 minutes to fill, then maybe the Finzi Bagatelles would fit - they are supposed to take 14.

If you need a breather, then maybe play 4' 33", leaving out the repeats. Best on a B natural clarinet, of course. (Sorry, ancient joke....)

The 4,33" would be nice to have performed, but make sure that you have the best of the best performers for this piece, it requires top-class performers"

Good luck - Brahms. Berg, Templeton, Cage sounds like an interesting recital
