Sorry for the excitement, but four weeks after my audition for Central Michigan University, I found out that they've accepted me (they said 3 weeks max before I'd hear from them, so I was thinking about other educational plans....)
Anyone else on the board in the music program at Central Michigan? If so, I'd like to exchange emails so I know a few people before school starts.

Congratulations Michelle,
I am familiar, somewhat, with Central Michigan since a very dear friend is on the voice faculty there who is my wife's vocal coach. They have a beautiful new music building and a good faculty. I know Dr. Kennan White: clarinet, and he is a wonderful guy and a superb musician and performer. If I were not living in Ohio, I would be studying with him. My wife is fortunate in that her vocal coach is "like family" and spends time with us during breaks.
I might mention that Kennan's wife is a terrific flutist and is on the faculty at CMU as well and that they do make beautiful music together.
Good luck, Gene Hall

Fantastic! They also have a great composition department...David Gillingham is on the staff there and is a phenomenal composer.

Thanks everybody,
The family's been going a little nuts about it. They've been calling me constantly. I've never gotten so many emails saying "good for you", usually they think my music "habit" is useless.

I didn't know Gillingham was there. He's coming to my school year after next to conduct in an Honor band we host. Can't wait to meet him. I love his music.

I quite like Gillingham's music as well. If I apply to composition grad schools for fall 06 (still weighing my options), CMU is definitely on my list.
Congrats, clarispark!
