Does anyone know the diffence between the C-13 and the E-13? Is the Buffet international an upgrade from either of these?

E-13 and C-12 are the model #'s

I haven't tried the C-12's so no comment, but I'd get the R-13 if the price was close. Only possible reason to go C-12 would maybe be if the keys were silver plated standard.

I really like the feel of the plating compared to the nickel - there is no sound difference.

I thought the C-13 was the Buffet International. If so, it's German made and has silver keys standard. However, the tone isn't as good as the R-13 and unless you get a good buy on a used one, you'll pay almost as much as you would for a good used R-13.

Check out the links David provided for you and do some more research. The best kind of research is play-testing if there's a store near you that has Buffet clarinets.

But, I highly recommend a good used R-13. Get it from a reputable person--preferably a player.
