 Fuzzy open G...

I have a Leblanc LL that has been recently completely overhauled and now that I am nowhere near my repair tech and can't seem to reach him on the phone, I notice a fuzzy open G and fuzzy lower Bb to B trill key. Anyone know what could be causing this and if it is something I can fix until I get to my clarinet guy? Maybe I should just go with my back up horn till I can get someone to look at this one?

It sounds as if pads are not lifting high enough off the tone holes (unless there is muck in the tone holes), i.e. venting.

Possible causes include key cork too thick, pad too thick, pad installed so that it projects too far from key cup, key geometry bent out of appropriateness. Although any of these can be altered to compensate for another, it is best to correct the fault itself.

Hard reeds highlight probelms of venting.

Thank you Gordon. I think I will be using my back-up until I can get this horn to someone that can "complete" this recent "complete overhaul". I had not noticed this problem until recently and then it just seemed to really stand out. I guess this is why having a back-up horn is important.
