 Mazzeo Clarinet

I am wondering what the big different in Mazzeo clarinets are compared to regular Bb clarinets? I have seen the "California custom," but when I look at the Bundy Mazzeo (and a few other plastic Mazzeos) the only big difference I see is the lack of a ring on the bottom of the bell.
What's up with that?

C G, Do you have a copy of Brymer, Clarinet? , or other "bibles". They will describe the M's better than we can. Mazzeo invented [5 patents] a number of innovations, the "major" one being the use of the ring [on ring-finger left hand], with key structure to operate the opening of the next-to-top trill key for a clean, good mid-staff Bb. Unhappily it generates a problem or so, which led to the demise of even the simplist Bundy M model by Selmer. We have discussed this before, try a search. Don

Thanx, Mark, Don
