A friend picked up a metal clarinet on ebay a few months ago for ten bucks. He did nothing to it, as far as repairs, adjustments, etc. It's still in "as is" condition.
The only identification, aside from a bit of engraving on the bell is the word STUDENT, also on the bell. I assume this is a student model of some make, or was there actually a make called Student?
Anyway, I played this clarinet, put my mp on it and blew. I know many of you on this board trash metal clarinets, but this horn, in as is condition, played fabulous!
I didn't check it with a tuner but it didn't sound sharp and it had good intonation, and I was able to blow into the altissimo easily, and was in fact able to overblow a G#, the one four lines above the staff. The only real fault with this horn is that the key work is rather crude; you might get blisters on your fingertips from the metal tone holes.
Anyone know anything about this clarinet?
