hmm i just bought a pomarico ruby type crystal mouthpiece..it produces sound better n somehow i can say it has a better responsivenesds..yeo..just want to ask what's the good ligature that can fix nicely with it...and i really want to know about what the coommenn of u all thah has used crystal mouthpiece before..=) thank you

I played a Pomarico Ruby for about 2 years. I like its sound a lot. When I played it I used a Vandoren inverted ligature.

I have a Pomarico Diamond M and I use a Vandoren Optimum ligature that does the trick. Pomarico also makes a ligature espesially for their mouthpieces that I like. It is a thin, small ligature that lets the reed vibrate as much as possible. I like crystal mouthpieces because they seem to stay consistant throughout their life. Crystal does not change like rubber does. It does break if you drop it so be careful. I had a Selmer crystal fall onto concrete and break. Not good.

Cross referencing sfalexi's thread about sore lips, I don't suppose anybody has bitten down hard enough on a crystal mouthpies to break it?
(I chomped thru a crystal goblet once, but that would be another story.)

As I've said a number of times in posts to many threads, [a glass/ crystal mp search will give you a lot to read!], I've gone back to glass on my Bb, Alto and Bass cls, prob. need one for my unplayed sop Eb and for a contra if I should wander further astray. Conclusion, I like them best. I'd suggest, that if you have a hard rubber mp that seems especially playable, that you investigate with one of our several mp refacers [who will work on glass] obtaining a glass "blank", possibly a closer lay finished mp, and have it copy-faced. I have had several Bb's faced to some of the "common" VanDoren measurements which are known, and 2 Bass refaced to a friend's favorite facings. My Alto Pom is their mellow #3 [dont know what gem its called], its very good as well. All this may become a bit costly, but except for careless handling, its a lifetime investment.
