IT'S SNOWING HERE IN CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS!!!
Freak snowstorm here tonight -- probably just a "light dusting" to you snow veterans up north, but we're in sheer bliss way down here in South Texas, where we're on tap to receive the most snow in our recorded history! Most people here have never even seen a snowflake in their lives. I lived in Alaska when I was a baby but I don't remember a thing about it, so this is the first snowstorm I'll actually remember! WHOO-HOO!!!! I never thought I'd live to see a white Christmas in my own town! I ACTUALLY MADE A SNOW ANGEL TONIGHT!!
Ahem... sorry for the outburst... I'm freakin' giddy!!!
So, to keep this clarinet-related... um, any special precautions I should take to care for an R-13 on a SNOWY CHRISTMAS EVE IN SOUTH TEXAS?!?!?!?!?

As for the R-13 no playing in the snow with it. Frosty only can play a plastic marching clarinet.

Although the weather is cold,
The clouds won't be so bold.
Snow in this state?
If so, we'd elate.
But freak storms don't happen down here
So, just a little cold is all we have to fear.
That is to say, Mississippi gets very little snow, I'm jealous of your snow, and make sure your R-13 doesn't get used for firewood.

I'm originally from SW Missouri, so it's no big deal to me, but the big news story in Houston is the snow (a minute amount). I guess it is a delight if you've never seen snow. Here's a picture from the front porch last evening.

Yes! I live in Abilene, Texas (West Texas) and we also have SNOW! It's only snowed on Christmas, or close to Christmas, a very few times in my 54 years of life. The last time I remember it snowing was my youngest son's first Christmas. And this time, we have a new baby granddaughter (Meg) who is sleeping through her first snowy Christmas. She was born Dec. 17th.
The thing about snow is, it makes the world seem to get a new start. It's fresh and clean (until the dog runs through it) and glistens.
What a deal!

Wow. Here in southern Cow Hampshire it's 28°, and the grass is as green as in early fall. No snow at all. :-(

It's now gone -- all gone. But it snowed for at least 6 hours from 9 p.m. to around 3 a.m., hard enough to accumulate, cold enough to stick (around 27 deg. F) and long enough to enjoy, and it was glorious! Boy, it sure does leave a mess when it melts. Now I have a taste of what you Yankees go through every year.

Wow, just my luck... Snow in TEXAS. Isn't Minnesota supposed to be the land of Ice, Snow, and 10,000 Lakes? Um... check on the lakes, but we seems to be missing the two former. Oh well, but I really really do miss the snow.
For the clarinet, well, maybe keeping it inside would be the prefered thing to do.
