I didn't read any agreement in the signup that it was. Is it????
[ This board is moderated by both Mark C and myself. Any related problems should be discussed with us off-line - GBK ]

and every once in a while you'll get a message from them saying that "everything is fine."
It's quite reassuring.

Every once in a while Mark and GBK get kudos for their efforts at keeping the BB a relatively sane place but not often enough. If you consider how fast they get the junk removed and the personal attacks quelled you could calculate the amount of time and effort that they put in. They really do deserve much better cooperation both "one the air" and "off-line" for their efforts and an occasional pat on the back for a great job done. Since this is the Holiday Season and what better time than to say "Thank you Mark and Glenn".

Yes, it's reassuring that this board is regulated. There have been some "temper tantrums" that were removed, thus saving the authors some future embarassment--not to mention the readers.

What amazes me about the regulation is that there are two moderators, GBK and Mark, and between just the two of them, this board SEEMS to be moderated nearly round the clock. Much moreso than other boards I've been on with multiple moderators who NEVER seem to be around.
This has got to be one of the more efficient boards around. You'll rarely if ever see spam, blatant advertising, off-colour or off-topic posts, etc.
Alexi
PS - Thanks you two. Doing a great job.

I'm sure that I speak for Mark when I say that we are constantly amazed at the uncanny and broad depth of knowledge, expertise, creativity, wit and (occasional) humor by both the long time and newer "regulars" to the board.
For the newest contributors, we applaud your enthusiasm and fresh ideas.
Thanks to all for another...ummm.... "interesting" year ... GBK (and Mark C)

That's because GBK & I live in two different timezones:
Awake & asleep
Thanks for the kudos!

I think moderation is a good thing up to the point where it violates free speech. At that point it is very bad.
Mark and GK do a good job though! (and they certainly don't get paid enough for it

You're right.
I'm going to make them a deal. Whatever they're getting paid to moderate this board, I'll be generous and DOUBLE it!

Early next year; it hasn't been a full year yet.

No - it's incorporated, but not a 501(c)(3) and won't be.

I always feel like I am being watched and I'm great with that. I feel like nothing bad is going to go on on this site. Thanks, guys, for keeping us walking the straight and narrow. Enjoy your holiday season. You do a great job. I hope you get to have some time off though. How does that ever work?? Maybe if we all went and spent some time with our families and friends and got off the computer for a day then you could have a day off. Just a thought.

This BBoard is about as self-governing as I could ever imagine. The vast majority of posters are well mannered, respectful and considerate of one another. Occasionally Mark C. or GBK will step in if things get a little out of line. The rest of the time they seem to be, to me anyway, interesting (and interest-ed), well-informed and knowledgeable participants. I don't believe it's possible to thank them enough for the great job they do on a seemingly tireless basis. I speak for myself when I say that I'm very sure I have only the slightest glimpse of what goes into keeping a BBoard like this up and running 24/7 all year 'round. I remember quite well the pre-computer era, and Beyond , when such freely available information and world-wide camaraderie was beyond anyone's wildest dreams.
Mark C. and GBK, I thank you both from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you!

Although I'm always arguing with Mark, I just have to say that without this board I would know very little. Thanks Mark and all contributors!

I'd like to add my thanks to Mark and GBK for all that they do. Although I don't post very often and so am not a continued 'presence' on the BBoard, it's actually because the search facility is so good - I can usually find an answer to any queries I have without needing to post!
It's been absolutely invaluable for research on my potential eBay purchases....at the moment clarinet no.14 is on its way to me from America - a Leblanc Concerto. I hope it arrives in time for Christmas!

One for each major key, I presume, and two spares?

Just wanted to say, I’ve got two angels standing next to the Christmas tree….one is called Mark C. and the other one is called GBK. A little bit early but, merry Christmas to all the people on the board!

Yes, they are angels, but more guardians than angels, aren't they? Thank you and seasons' greetings, Mark Charette and GBK.
My special thanks also go to Ken Shaw, because today I FINALLY received 'Sacred Solo' book from Sheetmusicplus that I waited so long.. It was like my early Christmas gift.

My pleasure, Lucy.
I want at least 24 clarinets, one for each major and each minor key. And another for the chromatic scale, and 3 more for the diminished 7ths, and one with a trombone slide for modulations, and a whole bunch of air clarinets for Mark and GBK to put on their trees.
And one good reed.

And a Partridge in a Pear tree,
which will sing a perfect A=440 so you can tune all those long black tubes

I monitor newsgroups in the "free world" which address music, rock climbing and backcountry skiing. It's pretty much a zoo out there, requiring filters, tough skin, or jungle tactics.
Clarinet.org [I hope you mean Woodwind.org - Clarinet.org is a different place - Mark C. ] is the sane experience of the bunch, thanks to GBK, MC and the restraint exercised by our members.
Ping my IP as often as you need, gentlemen! A lurker can learn a lot here.
Happy Holidays!
Guido

For god's sake ... pat their backs any harder and they'll both fall over ...
Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.

Just having fun. Personally I think it's overmoderated quite a bit.
