 Incredible box of reeds
Author: mkybrain
Date:   2004-12-07 13:01

i just opened up the best box of reeds...that ive ever opened. They all work, some need to be broken in, but they all work. And they work well. And its vandoren v12 size 4. Usually only a few work and not consistantly but these are amazing. I noticed how there werent any streaks of fibers either, and the fibers go all the way to the tip until they shouldnt. The reeds seemed much more dense with fibers than they usually are. The denisity in general seemed just perfect compared to the diagrams that i have seen on how they are supposed to look. Has anyone else here recently had the same experience with a box of vandoren, or did i just get really lucky this time?

Merry Christmas...Happy Chanukah. You've received an early visit from Santa or the Chanukah Elf!
It is indeed unusual to get that many good reeds right out of the box.
Perhaps, check to make sure you are awake, and this wasn't just a dream.
Be grateful for many things this Holiday Season, and be well.

Be careful, as you have stumbled upon that perfect box, you are doomed. You are tampering with the dark forces you know nothing of. I must take them and destroy them in the fires of Mount Lepic, through the land of Selmor. Our way is a difficult path, not a moment must be wasted!

The person whose job it is to put one good reed in each box of ten, was on break, and his personal box fell onto the line unnoticed. That means some where there are 10 boxes with NO good reeds in them.

Merry Christmas.

I had heard that one box of Gonzalez FOF reeds was reported missing from their factory.

Thanks for tracking it down...GBK

lol...

Congratulations, mkybrain.

Does the fact that I don't really complain about reeds prove that I'm a beginner, or was I lucky all the time? ..Not all 10 reeds, but I can usually use half of the box more or less satisafactorily, and following Mr.Pino's advice in his book I don't discard the 'wretched' ones and try to use them later.

Quick...go back to the same shop and buy their whole stock...they'll all be exactly the same as they're 'from the same batch of cane'.

lol, good stuff. Yea, the box is still incredible. however, i ordered these reeds of the intenet (wwbw) and my parents would NEVER pay for more than 6 boxes of reeds, but i do have around 3-5 boxes of reeds from the same order left(my parents hide the boxes so i wont use them up, they jsut dont get how these things, but i often dont get the whole "limited money" thing). We'll see if the rest are good when my current batch dies.

Be sure you actually do break them in, lest you kill them by overplaying too early.

I don't see what the big deal is. For me, weather is more of a wildcard than the reeds themselves. ALL my reeds were good reeds this year (I couldn't decide which to use most of the time) until it got cold and dry in the past month.

Once they have been broken in they will all be awful. You are doomed to eternal disappointment.

I think "ED" has the right idea. you must destroy them. however, they must be destroyed properly . I have the perfect way to destroy them. You must send them to me at once.

Just calculated the cost of the gifts in my song (see above) at above $75,000 based on current reed costs, cordier cutters, and the average cost of vintage mouthpieces.

The Mercedes Benz GBK is the given price for a CLK model with standard engine.

The Charette options market has not openned yet, so I have not added its value, although a chirping charette quote fluctuates with the Prime interest rate as determined by the Fed, which, as we all know, is run by a former jazz clarinetist.

You got really lucky. I like the V-12's but don't find that they have a dark enough sound for me. They are pretty consistant though but you got big time lucky.

Keep the reeds clean and they will last longer.
