Hey guys
I heard an awesome recording the other week of the Firebird suite - a recording from 2003 I believe, by Cincincatti Symphony.
Who is principal clarinet? The playing was gorgeous and something I could really aspire to.

Thanks Anon. He has such a sweet, liquid tone! It really just melts doesn't it...

Richard Hawley is such a great guy. I can't remember somehow I found his screen name on Ebay because he was selling something and started talking to him (back in my early high school years) and I had no clue who he was but he was so humble and kind. Kind enough to talk to a dorky high school kid and be decent. It wasn't "I'm god and you are fertilizer" deal.
On top of being a great person he's really a fantastic teacher and player. And in my opinion he is one of the best. I tend to judge schools and teachers based on if their students are getting jobs or not, and his school is. Infact, I believe it was his students one year who both got the principal and second positions of the Richmond Symphony and then one of his students got the Principal in the Kansas city.
But yeah, props to Mr. Hawley
