They're currently in the middle of the Dvorak right now - that was some great playing by English horn Tom Stacy.

Re: Maxim Vengerov . I guess a shortage of facial expressions would limit your continued success? Fine concert!

Very perceptive, GBK, not knowing the Vi Conc, I couldn't do other than enjoy the beautiful cl playing, less brilliant than the C would have been ?? Maazel's expressions were [generally] of approval [to me]. Dom
Thanx, Mark, Don

GBK - sounds like it was a lovely concert. Lorin Maazel visit our shores every other year and conducts the Sydney Symphony ... it is one of VERY FEW international orchestras he has regular dates with. We love him here and look forward to his time when he visits. The Sydney Symphony love him, too and respect his consumate mastery.
Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.

Diz... I enjoyed Maazel's interpretations last night as he brought out many of the inner orchestral voices which are often lost. His tempos, although at times a bit too allargando in places for my taste, were perfectly controlled and scrupulously followed by the NYP. The power he infused in the final movement of the Dvorak, literally blew the doors off the hall... GBK

Did he have to pay for repairs?
