I notice there is a vacancy for Bass Clarinet in the National Symphony orchestra of Wales ... a fine ensemble.

If only I were a UK citizen, non-high school, good player. Unfortunate.

There's been a spate of bass clarinet jobs here in the UK. In the last year or so, vacancies have arisen in;
Bournemouth Symphony
Royal Scottish National (or whatever they're called)
B.B.C. Scottish Symphony
B.B.C. Philharmonic
B.B.C. National Orch. of Wales
Royal Liverpool Philharmonic
Philharmonia
Some of these have caused each other, for example the player from BBC Phil going to BBC Scottish and being replaced by the one from Liverpool, but even so it seems strange to have so many at once.

Wow --- I hadn't heard the other vacating players, but the former Royal Liverpool bass clarinetist sounded awesome in the Suk "Asrael" recording I've got. I wonder what's going on?
If only I were a UK citizen, non-married, non-father, non-middle-aged, good player with a Union card (or the UK equivalent).....

jez ... good to see your post, you've been sadly absent. How life at the Phil, any exciting recordings on the horizon?

Do you suppose those missing players are in the Forest of Dean?
