The King Cornet, H. N. White Mfg.
Author: Roxann Larson

I have a King Cornet made by H. N. White with the serial #3748M. It is silver (plated) with Sterling/gold bell interior in very good condition. I have been told that it is pre-World War I. I would like to get in touch with the H. N. White company to check it's authenticity. I'd like to know how much it's worth. If anyone can tell me if they are still in operation or can identify the serial # with a date and value I would appreciate them writing to me at this email address.

Nick DeCarlis runs a great web site especially about cornets:
http://www.decadesign.com/cornets.html

Trumpet Players' International Network, which has an e-mail list, runs a good web site:
http://www.tpin/org

To link up serial numbers with dates, try Lars Kirmser's Music Trader site:
http://www.musictrader.com/fullindx/html

All these sites also have links to others. Hope this helps.

The H.N. White Co, as far as I know no longer exists. It later was taken over by King which is now a part of UMI (United Musical Instruments). The only person I know at UMI is Don Reynolds, he may be able to help.

I have seen a recent King clar [student model] so the name continues. K made some excellent saxes back in the 50-70's, look on some of the sax sites such as Cybersax.com. Hope it helps, Don
