Hi, Folks:
I just wanted to put in a good word for Walter Grabner! I'd read about his mouthpieces several times. I wrote to him and asked about what he might recommend for me: I mainly play my Buffet Albert C (but sometimes the A or the Bb) when I want slighty different tone qualities). I play Greek folk music, so our sound is a bit esoteric.
He sent me two different mpcs. I expected the CXZ_AW to be the better one for me; the other one was the CXZ_JAZZ. The CXZ_JAZZ, however, turned out to be fantastic!!! It really produced the tone that we Greeks like! I like it so much that I ordered another one for "just in case" if you know what I mean.
I want to recommend Walter. He was very helpful, and his new "Jazz" mpc works great for me and my Greek folk music on the "klarino" (as we call the instrument).

Yeah, I've gotta give up a very good word to Walter also. I needed to play a bass clarinet on a show back in April. I have a very old Leblanc that I had purchased used for a couple hundred, that had been more or less brought back to life by a pretty good overhaul that was finished a couple weeks before rehearsals started. Still, the darn thing just didn't seem to want to play and I was starting to panic. I called Walter on the phone on a Friday and he was like so helpful and mailed out his "Signature" bass clarinet mouthpiece on Saturday. Suffice to say it caused that old baby to sing FAR better than the other mouthpieces I was able to try. So thanks a lot Walter for saving the day.
By the way, playing the Bass Clarinet was so much fun I'll be looking at the Buffet 1193, Leblanc 430, Selmer 37 and Yamaha YCL-622 at the July Fest. It's probably the only possible way to try all four. Turns out what I had heard is true: A lot of jobs turn up if you can do Bass.

I also have a Grabner jazz mpc. and love it! I am still getting used to it, but I seem to be able to get a good characteristic sound AND play jazz nuances. I am using it witha Selmer series 9 and an older Leblanc Classic. Both sound very good to my ears
