I've often tossed around the idea of organizing a German oriented clarinet festival here in the U.S. This would be for those interested in the styles, instrments and players from that type of approach. So as a type of survey, anyone out there interested? If so, would you be willing to pay entrance fee etc.?

Ouch! C'mon folks. Let us never ever forget the Holocaust, but let us also let go of the unfunny "Germans are evil" stereotype. It's no more accurate than an "Americans are prisoner-of-war humiliators and torturers" stereotype would be.
rtaylor -- I don't know whether there would be enough interest in a stand-alone German-oriented clarinet festival, but I think a series of presentations on the various subjects would be a great draw at a future ClarinetFest.

Obviously you are not me. But you have a right to your opinion -- as do I. So I may indeed put "those things" in the same paragraph again, although I'm not sure what "those things" are to which you object.
I like Tom Lehrer's work and laughed at that song (when it came out in the '60s), as well as Mel Brooks' "Springtime for Hitler." I still think it's unfair to apply it to the current generation of Germans.
We clearly part company on this. And it's rather off-topic, clarinet-wise. I would be happy to discuss it amicably with you off-line if you so desire.
